Meeting my new student

I had just escorted Bekah to her dorm room and was told by Head Guardian Petrov to report to the gym to meet my new student. Before we left the Royal Court Guardian Petrov called me, since she knew I was going to be here to keep an eye on Bekah. She asked if I wouldn't mind mentoring a student, of course I didn't mind so I said yes. So I headed to the gym. I opened the door and walked inside. The lights were on but no one was inside. The mats were laid out on the ground and the dummies were out. I decided to warm up before starting the first lesson with whoever I was going to be mentoring.
I kept my leather trench coat on as I went outside to the track. I ran 100 laps before going back inside. I moved my head from side to side letting it crack since it was stiff from the flight. I rolled my shoulders to loosen them up. My trench coat hung loosely around my body giving me enough room to move. I decided to use one of the punching bags that was set up in the corner near the door to the track. I was working out for about half an hour when I finally heard the door go but I ignored it. If they were going to be late why should I waste my time, trying to train them.

Elena was running late but she didn't care. She was very upset that her mother thought she needed a mentor. She already had her parents, what more was there to learn? So she took her sweet time getting to the gym. When she arrived she saw her mentor warming up and stopped dead.

Wow she thought, but was sure not to say out loud. This man was beyond gorgeous. He was drop dead sexy. Damn she thought. Maybe I should have been on time. What she actually said out loud was I'm so sorry I am late. she said giving a winning smile.

I heard a female voice say they were sorry for being late. I threw a few more punches then stopped. "If you want to apologize, go outside and run laps." I told her in a serious tone. I didn't even bother looking at her. Before I train her I'm going to have to teach her discipline, I thought to myself. Great, thanks Alberta I thought sarcastically to myself. I threw more punches, waiting for the girl to go outside. I stopped when I didn't hear her move. "I told you to go run laps." Let me guess they gave me the most stubborn student, I mentally said to myself.

LAPS?? Wow what the hell is that going to do? as she thought this she knew her mother would be pissed if she didn't at least do what they said no matter what. So with an irritated sigh she walked out and began to run laps. When do I finish? she asked herself. But since she had no answer she just ran.

I heard her let out an irritated sigh and caught a glimpse of her going through the door too the track. I smiled to myself and when back to punching the bag. After a few minutes I walked over to the door that I had let open and watched her run around the track. I smirked since she didn't even ask how many laps to do, which kind of shocked me. "The amount of laps you have to do is 100." I stated, leaning against the door frame. "Here are the rules, every training session will start off with 100 laps for each minute you are late I will add 10 laps. You will be respectful. If I hear that you've gotten into a fight, you will have to do 200 laps, 200 push-ups, 200 sit-ups and will be band from all school events. Lastly I will teach you what I feel like teaching you, staking will be last. Do you understand my rules?" I asked as she continued to do laps.

Elena kept running till she reached 100 and heard all the rules. "Yes. Ok." she said throwing her hip. Staking is last? What the hell? Why? Whatever her mom had already let her use stakes a little so she would live. She was starting to think this training would be very pointless.

"So are you going to tell me who you are?" she asked nicely trying not to have to do any more laps.

"My names Guardian Harper." I stated since she was being polite. "Since I'm going to be your mentor, I kind of need to know your name." I said. "Guardian Petrov didn't tell me which student I was being assigned to." I said waiting for her to answer. I turned to head inside the gym but suddenly stopped and turned to face her. "You owe me 100 push-ups since you didn't know the rules for being late."

Elena smiled a bit and said "Elena Belikov." When he said the thing bout the push-ups she grunted a bit but was in a good mood and decided to go inside and do them.

She told me her name and I tried to keep my jaw from dropping. "Belikov?" I questioned. If she's who I think she then why does she need a mentor, I thought to myself. "Are you Dimitri Belikov's and Rose Hathaway's daughter?" I couldn't help but ask.

Elena gave a small smile and cringe thing and turned back around. "Yes I am. Do you know them?" she asked wondering by his reaction.

"I haven't personally met them, but my charge talks about them all the time." I stated matter-of-factly.

"Your charge?" she asked curious and sat down on the inside of the building and sat on one of the mats and looked over at the dummy he was practicing before she had showed up late.

"My charge is Lord Ivashkov!" I stated looking at her sitting down. "You owe me push-ups!" I said raising an eyebrow at her since she was looking at the dummy I was practicing on.

"Adrian? Wow." she said deep in thought. "OK Ill give you the push-ups" she said going onto the mat and started doing the 100 push- ups. When she was done she got up and walked back over and sat ready for whatever was next.

She seemed surprised that I was Adrian's Guardian. "Do a 100 sit-ups and well work with the punching bags." I said just as my phone started ringing. "Excuse me." I said pulling out my phone. "Hello." I answered and Bekah was on the other end. "Is everything okay Bekah?" I talked for a few minutes and then hung up. "Sorry about that." I said sincerely since I had told her not to call me while training. But since Elena showed up training was running late.

Elena started doing the sit-ups and was pleased to hear Bekah's name. "I love Bekah! She is awesome." she said with a smile as she got done and started stretching a bit before working with the punching bags.

"You've met Bekah?" I questioned a little surprised. She must have met her at court or ran into her somewhere earlier after we arrived. "Your stance is wrong. Like this." I showed her. "Where are your gloves?" I said notice that she was hitting the bag bare handed.

"Of course I have met her." she said and ten allowed him to fix her stance. "I never use gloves." she said crossing her arms and looking at him.

I walked over to her and placed my hands on her hips turning he so her dominant foot wasn't in front. Once she's in the right place I let go. "Bend your knees a little more." I said seeing that her legs were too straight. "That's good, you want your dominant foot behind you for fighting because it supports your weight. It keeps your balance, if someone tries to take out your foot, you can still manage to keep your balance. When you go to kick switch to your dominant foot being out front. Remember your legs should be shoulder length apart." I said giving her a few pointers.

Elena did as he said and continued to work on her drills and combos. She took his advice and sadly it made sense.

"Keep throwing punches, and i'll be right back." I said heading into the supply room. I grabbed a pair of training gloves for Elena. I also grabbed the bag that had the kick boxing gear in, and walked back in to the gym. "Here put these on." Throws gloves to her. "If you start wearing gloves, I may let you spar with me." I said trying to bribe her into wearing gloves so she doesn't turn her hands into ground hamburger.

Elena kept throwing punches and felt how her balance was much better. Then she took his advice while he was gone and shifted her weight and started doing a couple of kicks. When he came back she caught the gloves and looked at them."Gloves? Really?" she put them down and said "I'll pass." Then when he said the thing about sparring with him she thought for a moment then decided to put the stupid things on. "Happy?"

Elena finally put her gloves on and said happy causing me to smirk. "Yes Very. Now get back to throwing punches at the bag." I told her while I unzipped the bag of gear. "Don't give me that look!" Scolds Elena. I put on gloves and start punching the bag next to her.

Elena kept throwing punches at the bag and was surprised she was getting a bit tired. "So Nate what are we going to be doing everyday?" she asked

I groaned as Elena called me the nickname Bekah gave me. "Let me guess Bekah told you to call me that." I said shaking my head. "Come over here, we are going to do a little kick boxing before training is over. I'll tell you what we will be doing when training starts."
